Most burners in Thermal Oxidizers have a cast refractory block in the combustion chamber. The cast block directs the flame moving forward.

Heat stress can cause the refractory to crack. These cracks are the source of combustion heat leaking into the back of the burner and can destroy the metal parts of the burner. Early detection can avoid any potential damages and allows Ship & Shore RTO Service Technicians to replace the refractory as soon as cracks appear.
